VIPER is a service-based software platform designed to automate many aspects of data handling. It retrieves data automatically, processes it into common formats, archives data according to user-defined rules, and supports contemporary communication methods. Importantly, if power is lost or the system restarts unexpectedly, VIPER automatically resumes polling without any user intervention, ensuring continuous operation.User-Friendly and Flexible Operation
Once configured, VIPER’s front-end interface can be closed, allowing it to run in the background without disruption from user actions. This makes the system highly reliable and less prone to accidental interruptions. For locations with multiple ADR devices, VIPER can merge data from multiple BIN files into a single output file, simplifying data analysis while keeping original files intact for reference.Seamless Transition from TOPS and Efficient Device Management
VIPER supports importing existing TOPS databases, so users don’t have to recreate devices from scratch when migrating software. To further streamline setup, new devices can be created using an existing device as a template—only changing the necessary fields—greatly speeding up device creation and configuration.User Interface & Design

The software includes a comprehensive communications channel management module along with an ADR device management module, simplifying the handling of multiple devices. It supports sophisticated polling schedules, enabling users to tailor data retrieval timing according to their operational requirements. VIPER runs as a service-based application, allowing auto-polling to automatically resume after a computer reboot without user intervention. It supports various communication methods, including IP, IP stream, RS-232 direct connection, and modem, providing flexibility to connect with a wide range of network setups.Data Processing & Export
VIPER automates the processing of binned data, ensuring collected data is quickly prepared for analysis. It automatically archives data for secure storage and manages daylight-saving time adjustments within bin data, maintaining accurate time references. The software can export processed data to numerous formats such as TMG, PRN, XML, and XLS. As a result, these formats make it compatible with a variety of external analysis tools. One of its powerful features is Auto-Merge, which allows data from multiple devices to be combined and treated as a single site. This Auto-Merge simplifies multi-device data management. Additionally, VIPER supports traditional PVR files, which can be downloaded and viewed with TOPS software. It can also import and convert existing TOPS databases, ensuring continuity for users transitioning from older systems.Synchronization & Compatibility
To maintain precise time alignment, VIPER offers automatic synchronization of ADR device clocks. This includes the polling computer’s time, a feature that is both user-selectable and configurable. The software supports data processing from a broad range of Oriux devices. These devices include the ADR-1000 Plus, ADR-2000 Plus, ADR-3000 Plus, ADR-Sabre, and ADR-6000, making it a versatile solution across device generations. Furthermore, VIPER supports polling groups, which facilitates efficient management and simultaneous polling of multiple devices, improving operational scalability.FEATURES
- Hardware: A platform designed to run Windows 7 Pro or higher
- Operating System: Windows 7 Pro or higher
- Disk Space Data: The Viper from Oriux has 300MB minimum for application
- Storage: Variable, dependent on the type of data to be stored and the duration of typical ADR studies. (Recommend a minimum of 1GB of available disk space for data processing)
- OS Access: Viper installation requires administrative access to the OS
- Autoprocessing: The computer needs to be configured so that it does not go into any mode that might interfere with scheduled polling, such as standby, hibernate, or any other sleep mode
