StopWatch+ offers a smart solution by enabling real-time traffic monitoring using hardware you may already have. This software add-on works with the advanced and proven Oriux Automatic Data Recorder (ADR). With StopWatch+, the ADR continues to collect valuable historical data for planning and funding purposes. This is all while simultaneously providing current traffic information to traffic centers and websites.Simple Integration and Data Use
StopWatch+ delivers real-time traffic data in a straightforward format that can be easily imported into existing monitoring systems or software. Since it reports live data rather than stored files, StopWatch+ does not include standalone end-user software for viewing. Instead, it uses a simple communications protocol designed to interface seamlessly with a variety of data systems.Applications in Traffic and Emergency Management
StopWatch+ is well suited for use by:- Traffic Management Centers: Both city and state-operated centers can use StopWatch+ for routine daily traffic monitoring, traveler information services, advisory systems, and performance measurement of system operations.
- Emergency Response Systems: It supports critical scenarios such as evacuations, weather-related emergencies, natural disasters, and man-made incidents, enabling timely and informed decision-making.

Built-In Integration and Licensing
StopWatch+ is integrated into every new Oriux Automatic Data Recorder (ADR) and only requires activation via a site, city, or state-wide license fee. This means no additional hardware is necessary to gain real-time traffic monitoring capabilities, thus making it a cost-effective enhancement to existing systems.Enhanced Real-Time Traffic Processing
Once activated, StopWatch+ allows the ADR to process real-time traffic data such as vehicle count, average speed, and occupancy at configurable intervals ranging from 10 seconds up to 60 minutes. This enhanced real-time processing operates independently from the ADR’s ongoing historical data collection studies, enabling both data streams to be monitored simultaneously.Flexible Data Configuration
StopWatch+ supports data processing for up to 16 traffic lanes (or 32 overall traffic flows). The system offers flexible options for aggregating data, including:- Individual flow totals
- Lane or sensor array totals
- Directional totals
- Overall site totals
System Flexibility and Compatibility
StopWatch+ is included in every Oriux ADR-3000 Plus unit with firmware version 5.4 or later, which applies to units manufactured from September 2004 onward. Activation of StopWatch+ can be performed remotely by contacting Oriux Sales or Customer Service, making it easy to enable without on-site visits.Configuration and Setup
Once activated within the ADR firmware, StopWatch+ requires configuration before use. Oriux provides a dedicated setup utility called StopWatch+ Monitor to assist users in customizing settings and tailoring data collection to their needs.Data Retrieval and Usage
StopWatch+ data is retrieved via the serial comport at user-defined time intervals. This data is intended to be imported into third-party software systems for further analysis or real-time monitoring. However, it is important to note that StopWatch+ data cannot be directly viewed or processed in Oriux’s own TOPS™ software.Dual Functionality in One Device
The StopWatch+ application allows a single device to perform the functions of two, maximizing your investment in existing traffic data recorders. StopWatch+ can be retrofitted into existing ADR Plus units, thus extending the life and capabilities of your current equipment. Its low power consumption makes it ideal for remote deployments where power resources are limited, additionally, ensuring long-term operation without frequent battery changes.Advanced Features and Proven Reliability
The system can process traffic data in both directions within a lane, in effect, making it suitable for monitoring reversible lanes or complex traffic patterns. - Communications: The Stop Watch+ from Oriux has an RS232 serial port with selectable baud rates between 300 and 19,200 via UL and CSA approved female socket, optionally available with up to 5 ports available and baud rates up to 115,200.
