Advanced Traffic Controller ATC-1000

The ATC-1000 Gen II is the latest addition to Oriux’s ATC line of modular, standards-based controllers. Designed for ease of use and adaptability, the ATC-1000 Gen II traffic controller features Oriux’s latest ATC engine board, a full range of communication options — including multiple serial ports, multiple Ethernet ports, multiple USB ports, and a memory port — as well as a variety of I/O and D modules.

Like its predecessor, the ATC-1000 Gen II is a native NTCIP-based controller and is fully compatible with Oriux’s Spinnaker® Advanced Traffic Management System, as well as any other NTCIP-compatible ATMS.

Introduction to the ATC-1000 Gen II

The ATC-1000 Gen II is the latest addition to Oriux’s line of modular, standards-based traffic controllers. Designed for ease of use and adaptability, this controller features Oriux’s newest ATC engine board along with a comprehensive set of communication options. These include multiple serial ports, Ethernet ports, USB ports, a memory port, and a variety of I/O and D modules, making it suitable for a wide range of traffic management applications.

Compatibility and Upgrade Flexibility

As a native NTCIP-based controller, the ATC-1000 Gen II is fully compatible with Oriux’s Spinnaker® Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) as well as other NTCIP-compliant systems. Its interchangeable I/O and D modules allow it to be installed in the latest cabinets. It can also be used as a direct plug-in replacement for older, non-standards-based cabinets currently housing Traconex and LMD controllers. This provides agencies with a practical upgrade path for aging intersection control hardware.

Features and Benefits

The ATC-1000 Gen II includes a 40-character by 16-line backlit LCD, with an optional heater for reliable operation in colder climates. It runs on a Linux operating system with memory management for process isolation, enhancing system stability and security. The controller is compliant with NTCIP standards 1201 and 1202, ensuring broad compatibility. Equipped with a 300MHz Freescale Power Quix 2 processor, the controller supports four independent 100 Base-T Ethernet ports and two high-speed USB ports for extensive connectivity. A 32-key soft-touch keypad provides an intuitive interface for front-panel programming. The controller communicates using NTCIP protocols and integrates seamlessly with central software such as Spinnaker, TranSuite, and MIST.

Easy Field Programming

Intersection configuration programming can be easily performed in the field using the provided laptop software, ATC Link. This interface connects directly to the controller via Ethernet or serial cable. With this feature, configuration of files may be saved on a portable USB flash drive for rapid field deployment. Additionally, programming can be downloaded remotely over a network using an NTCIP-compliant central system. Spinnaker would be one example of this, offering flexibility for system updates and management.

  • 9 to 11 pounds (4 to 5 kg) depending on which I/O modules, D modules, and modem are installed
  • 220V option is also available: 178 to 270VAC 50/60Hz± 3Hz
  • 16MB Flash memory, 64MB SDRAM, and 1MB SRAM
  • Environment from -35°F to +165°F (-34 °C to +74°C) and relative humidity from 0 to 95%
  • Traffic application software is NTCIP software compliant, ensuring easy integration into any NTCIP or ITS traffic control system
  • Firmware update via USB port or ATC Link Software
  • Oriux’s ATC-1000 operates with a Linux v2.6.2.0 system
  • Connectivity is easily achieved using a variety of communication options:
    • 5 serial ports; RS 485 support on one port (jumper selectable)
    • Two 10/100 Base-T Ethernet ports
